Deputies stop 3 contraband drops in 1 week at Washington State Prison
DAVISBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Deputies have stopped attempted contraband drops at the Washington State Prison three times in one week, according to authorities.
On Thursday, Nov. 24, Washington County deputies say they were patrolling in Davisboro when they stopped a drop at the prison for a third time in a week through patrol tactics and other investigative measures.
Suspect identified in killing at federal prison in Edgefield
Authorities applied for a warrant to take a DNA swab of fellow inmate Corderius Johnson, who’s suspected of killing Joseph Hamilton, 36, on June 4.

On Saturday evening, deputies say they seized a large amount of illegal drugs and contraband in Davisboro.
Then again on Sunday, deputies say they were made aware of another attempted contraband drop at or near Washington State Prison.

Authorities said that after setting up a perimeter of the area, deputies soon ed two males walking on Georgia Highway 231 north of Davisboro.
Deputies say they investigated and found the males to have in their possession four bottles of prescription cough/cold syrup (Promethazine Hydrochloride) along with other contraband.
2 arrested in string of auto break-ins in across Burke County
Authorities arrested two suspects and are looking for another in connection to a string of auto break-ins throughout Waynesboro and Burke County, the sheriff’s office announced Wednesday.

Sheriff Joel Cochran stated, “The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and our local and state partners are working hard to stop contraband from being smuggled into Washington State Prison. We are taking strong steps to secure the prison and ensure everyone’s safety. The criminal element needs to recognize that our efforts are serious and that we will continue to take action to shut down these illegal activities.”
The following have been arrested in connection to all three incidents:
- Ziad Burrell, 18, of Jonesboro, and Tyshaun Banks, 21, of Jonesboro, were charged with crossing guard lines with drugs without the consent of the warden, trading with inmates, and possession of a schedule III substance with intent to distribute, according to authorities.
- Jamal Frazier, 28, of Lithonia; Chavis Poole, 25, of Macon; and Lashundra Davis, 41, of Lithonia. All are in the Washington County Jail and charged with trading with inmates, crossing guard lines, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of schedule 2 drug (Oxycodone) with intent to distribute and racketeering (RICO) all felonies.
