Finding Solutions: Salvation Army programs help families during holidays
The Salvation Army in both Augusta and Aiken kicked off the holiday season with the Angel Tree Program and Red Kettle Campaign on Wednesday.

The organizations chosen are based in Richmond, Columbia, McDuffie and Aiken counties, and have a broad reach across Piedmont Augusta’s service area.
“It was a lot of out-of-pocket and sweat equity on myself and my partner, Jamela Dukes, part. So, to get this relief for us and to be able to sit down and plan it out and say, ‘This is what our budget will be, and this is how we are going to make things happen.’ It’s going to be a great 2025 for us,” said Kimberly Beasley, founder of Columbia County Health, Wellness and Fitness Expo.
Also, each has a proven track record of making a measurable impact on the health needs, social drivers of health or health disparities.
Lily Henson, M.D., CEO of Piedmont’s Augusta Hub, said ing community partners falls in line with the Piedmont Promise to make a positive difference in every life they touch.
“While we are known for our exceptional clinical outcomes, the impact Piedmont makes in our communities is core to who we are and what we do,” Henson said. “Recognizing we are stronger when we pool our energy and resources, we are thrilled to begin the celebratory season of giving thanks by honoring, ing and strengthening our partner organizations who are in the trenches helping all of our community achieve their potential.”
Hugh Hamilton, chair of the Piedmont Augusta board, said: “The need is huge, but always the is limited. So, we want to make sure we maximize the impact of these gifts and not only provide gifts but provide them on how to make these gifts more impactful than they realize.”
