AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The application period is opening for an emergency loan program to help Georgia farmers affected by Hurricane Helene.

Known as SAFETY 24, it’s a low-interest, emergency loan program.

Farmers who suffered losses from Helene and live in a designated disaster area or adjacent county are eligible to apply for up to $500,000 at a 2% fixed interest rate.

This special loan program will be istered on a first-come, first served basis.
