STATESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - It certainly has been a season to for the Westminster Wildcats.

Their 17-game win streak has come to an end in the state final.

Westminster was just a score and change shy of this year ending in their favor.

They fall 36-26 in this year’s GIAA state championship against Sherwood Christian Academy.

It was their fourth appearance in the final stand in six years.

“They’re hard to beat in any league so we’re just glad to be here and represent Westminster. You know, sometimes things don’t quite go your way and that’s how it is in life and it was a good life lesson. We’re going to learn from it and just continue to move on and continue to build Westminster football as good as we can,” said Head Coach Chris Murphey.

This senior group finishes as one of the winningest in Westminster program history, with three state final appearances and one state title.

A big piece of that was Quarterback Levi Murphey.

It was the final time he walked off the field with his dad.

“Don’t take it for granted. Because just yesterday, I was a freshman,” said Levi.
