Cross Creek student saluted for helping others on holiday
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Cross Creek high schooler was honored for his selflessness this holiday season.
On Tuesday, the Richmond County Marshal’s Office honored Corey Johnson during a turkey giveaway, because the teen donated not one but 24 turkeys.
“When I saw people giving out turkeys I thought, ‘I have savings’ let me go ahead and just use my money and buy it,” said Johnson.
Johnson says this was all ing his place of privilege to give to others who are less fortunate.
Ahead of Thanksgiving local groups feed communities in the CSRA
A huge Thanksgiving Day event happened Tuesday morning - the 15th Annual T.W. Josey Feed the Community event.

“It’s it makes me happy because most of the time, I know some people don’t have big enough families or don’t have enough money for them to get food,” said Johnson. “So I know I’m happy about that.”
After the award, the marshal’s office went out and hand-delivered those turkeys to families for Thanksgiving.
“This young man made a positive impact,” said Ramone Lamkin, Richmond County marshal. “He’s a high school student who took his own money and bought turkeys for families and the citizens of Richmond County. That’s just an awesome testament to his upbringing, to his parents and what they are doing, and the values they are instilling in him.”
