According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the scene had been cleared nearly five hours later as of 10:05 a.m.

But it was a mess earlier in the morning.

Snide’s Towing told us it was called to the scene for a six-car pileup. Two of the vehicles were overturned, blocking all lanes of traffic, according to the company.

“We are providing these photos from scene in hope to spread awareness this season to drive safe, wear your seatbelt and move over for first responders,” the company said.

Dispatchers said the call for the crash came in at 5:10 a.m.

Emergency medical crews were called to the scene, but Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen says he was not.

All lanes of westbound I-520 past Deans Bridge Road were closed from 6 a.m. to around 7:30 a.m.
