‘Super heartwarming’: Making sure no kid is forgotten on Christmas
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Salvation Army of Augusta says they have about 1,500 angels currently in need and your help can make a family’s Christmas.
With Christmas around the corner, the Salvation Army of Augusta is making sure no child is forgotten.
Their angel trees are spread out across our area, and with a little over a week left, there are still dozens of tags left on trees awaiting adoption.
The clock is ticking, and they could use your help now more than ever.
While Thanksgiving focuses on appreciation and blessings, the Christmas season is all about giving.
Salvation Army Angel Christmas Trees across Augusta are decorated with tags for thousands of angels in need.
Here are some tips on how to keep pets safe during cold snap
Cold temperatures have arrived, and they’re going to dip even further in the days ahead. So it’s more important to keep an eye out on pets.

“We had just over 1,000 angels last year, and this year we are at about 1,500. So, the need is definitely growing, and we would definitely believe that that is a direct correlation to Hurricane Helene,” said Janelys Villalta, marketing and public relations manager for Salvation Army of Augusta.
Every tag represents a child 12 and under, praying for some Christmas cheer.
“So, you’ll see on each of the angel tree tags, our need is X thing. And so, we really take that seriously when parents tell us like, this is what our child needs. And I think that I would encourage people to really look at that need,” said Villalta.
But with only nine days left before the angel gifts are to be returned, trees are still decorated with forgotten angels.
The goal is for the trees to be bare before December 13, and these forgotten angels need your help.
Grab a tag, take it to the cashier, follow the directions on the back and bless someone this Christmas season.
Young patients shop with their doctors at holiday event in Evans
Young patients got into the holiday spirit on Tuesday by shopping with their doctors at an annual event in Evans.

“You can adopt an angel here at the North Augusta store, at our River Watch store, at the Kroc Center, and then we also have a tree at the Augusta Mall,” said Villalta.
The Salvation Army is calling on you this Christmas season to make a difference for someone else on Christmas day.
“It is super heartwarming to see all of the families come and we’re giving them their gifts. It’s almost like a sigh of relief for a lot of these parents who are like, I don’t know what I’m going to do for Christmas,” said Villalta.
, the gifts are due back by December 13.
Every child’s needs are listed on the card to make it easy for you.
Even if you can’t adopt a child this season, the Salvation Army says they are accepting winter coats and toiletries.
