DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Five people were killed in a suspected murder-suicide, including two children, according to DeKalb County police.

Police say the victims are 43-year-old Mollian Johnson, her grandchildren, Jedorah Powell, 5, and Jontavious Powell, 1, and their mother Kaylyn Samuels, 26. The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Jonathan Darden, who police say was dating Johnson. Officers say all five lived together in the home.

Police said officers responded to an apartment complex on the 2100 block of Vineyard Walk around 7:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a welfare check.

All five were found dead of gunshot wounds.

Tina Marie lives in the apartment complex, devastated that this happened.

“For something like that to happen is really shocking,” she said. “Especially to children, it hurts.”

Police are still investigating but say the preliminary investigation indicates that this may have been a murder-suicide.

“You never would think somebody would snap, you just don’t see it coming,” Marie said. “It’s sad and it hurts. This still makes me want to cry.”
