AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office released the report after two suspects were arrested in connection to the shooting death of 20-year-old Ruben Johnson on Amli Way.

Wife arrested in Aiken County murder of 43-year-old

The wife of a 43-year-old man has been charged with murder in his Aiken County shooting death, according to authorities.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says 20-year-old Ruben Johnson, of Augusta, died at Doctors Hospital on Nov. 29.

Jermaine Williams, 21, was arrested on Friday, according to jail bookings.

Earlier in the week, Williams was recovering in the hospital for injuries in relation to the shooting.

Since mid-April, there’s been a wave of homicides and other sweeping the CSRA. Although as the largest city, Augusta has been hit especially hard, the crime wave is affecting places large and small.

Earnest Parkman, 68, was arrested on Nov. 30 also in connection to the murder of Johnson, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the scene at 1030 Amli Way at 6:55 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29.

Deputies say upon arrival, they located Johnson with multiple gunshot wounds and Williams, who had been shot at least one time.

Johnson was pronounced dead at 7:23 p.m., according to the Richmond County Coroner’s Office.

At 8:40 p.m., our News 12 crew on scene says the scene was cleared.

Williams and Parkman are each charged with one count of murder, possession of a firearm or knife during a crime and home invasion in the first degree.

Sardis police seek suspect on several felony charges

The Sardis Police Department is looking for a man who’s wanted on several felony counts, including escape.

The shooting follows another deadly shooting that left two people dead on the 3000 block of Mystic Lane early Wednesday. Tony Brooks Horne, 46, was arrested on the scene.

Before that, another shooting incident left multiple people dead in Augusta. That incident happened Nov. 21 in the 2100 blocks of B and C streets, claiming the lives of Jeremy Dontavious McGahee, 34, and Zyquan Jamarcus Franklin, 32, both of Augusta.

The shootings come amid a two-year outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed more than 180 lives across the CSRA.

Cities large and small have been affected on both sides of the Savannah River. But as the largest community in the region, Augusta has been hit especially hard.
