Finding Solutions: Local non-profit to serve more people with large donation
NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -The Community Ministry of North Augusta is calling on you to pay them a visit at their thrift store.
On Tuesday, the non-profit received a large truckload of furniture from La-Z-Boy.
The store collected furniture and cash donations during their trade-in sale in October and on Tuesday it was all given to the ministry.
Finding Solutions: Golf tournament raises money for kids with pediatric cancer
The All In For Miller Foundation was out on Monday raising money and awareness for kids with pediatric cancer.
Funds from the thrift store the ministry in helping others.
This year marks 40 years for the organization that helps with utility and prescription assistance, like skills training and offers a food pantry.
They say after the storm, they have seen an increase in need, and donations like this will help them serve even more people.
“This donation will enable us to pay more power bills, buy more food to help people out especially since we had the hurricane we’ve had a huge intake of people needing food and help with utilities, needing furniture and it’s a huge blessing for this community,” said Tammy Butler, Community Ministry of North Augusta Executive Director.
Finding Solutions: Aiken ministry looks for help to stay open
Mt Salem Ministries has been around for more than 20 years, serving those in need by providing food, shelter and resources to help people get back on their feet.

She says in one month, they help anywhere from 300 to 400 families.
If you are in need of assistance the ministry does not take appointments, so you can walk in.
As for thrifters, the store is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 531 Belvedere-Clearwater Road.
Store donations are accepted Monday through Friday until 5 p.m.
