Columbia County’s FEMA center closing at end of week
EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - FEMA’s Columbia County disaster recovery center is one of several in Georgia that are closing this week.
The Evans center that’s meant to help Hurricane Helene victims will close permanently at 7 p.m. Friday.
Until it closes, the center is at the Columbia County Emergency Management Agency, 650 Ronald Reagan Drive, will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Hurricane Helene: Ga. ag chief seeks help for growers

- On Tuesday, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper called on Congress to disaster relief for farmers and producers impacted by Hurricane Helene and economic assistance for farm families across the state.
- “From soaring input costs to low commodity prices, the expiration of the Farm Bill, and devastating natural disasters, these past few years have been some of the hardest for our farm families in our nation’s history,” he said.
- “The eyes of Georgia and the nation are watching – and it cannot afford to wait any longer.”
The other Georgia centers that are closing are outside the CSRA.
Survivors may visit any open recovery center to get one-on-one help applying for federal assistance, receive updates on their applications and learn about the appeals process.
