FedEx delays bring frustration in Augusta ahead of Christmas Day
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - With just days left until Christmas, FedEx customers say their packages are stuck at shipping centers instead of on delivery trucks.
It’s an issue happening across Georgia and seems to be connected to delays at a shipping facility in Austell, which is near Atlanta.
We spoke with many people at the Augusta FedEx Shipping Center in Augusta on Thursday.
Amazon drivers in Georgia, elsewhere go on strike amid holiday rush
Just days away from Christmas, Amazon – a major employer in the CSRA - faces a strike by union at a metro Atlanta facility.

They all say they are tired of waiting for their package.
One person said they’ve been at the shipping center three times already. But each time, they’ve left empty-handed.
They’re fed up with FedEx.
“I don’t know. We’re just waiting,” said Crystal Smalls.
Smalls says she is waiting on her kid’s Christmas gift.
“It was at a FedEx facility since Tuesday, so today is now Thursday. So, I just decided to come here and now they are telling me that my package is on a truck, but it hasn’t been unloaded yet,” said Smalls.
Caroline Peace just moved into her new apartment and was getting ready to decorate.
Georgia Power rates are rising again in just a few days
Georgia Power says money from rate hike will be used to pay for grid improvements, investments in cleaner energy and customer service upgrades.

“I ordered a couch probably around three weeks ago. And it is just sitting at a warehouse, I believe. And then my desk has said it’s been out for delivery for like three days now,” said Peace.
Peace says she checks for updates daily.
“It will say like delivery today by end of day and it will just go to tomorrow when it doesn’t get delivered,” said Peace.
She says she’s tried to call FedEx but hasn’t had any luck.
“We were trying to see if we could go pick up our stuff because we’re kind of done, but we just couldn’t get an answer,” she said.
Helene housing aid, unemployment deadline extended in S.C.
FEMA and the state of South Carolina have extended the application deadline for disaster unemployment assistance. A housing program has been extended, too.

We also reached out to FedEx, and they say they’re sorry for any inconvenience, and they are working tirelessly to deliver everyone’s packages ahead of the holidays.
They also say they’re working to extend their operation hours and delivery times to help resolve the issue.
But Peace says she’s just tired of waiting.
“Some people have gone up to the warehouse and got their stuff, so that might be something that my boyfriend and I look into because we want our couch,” she said.
Some people say they understand it’s the holiday season, but they still have never seen delays this bad before.
