AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Santa is coming a little early for some families in Augusta.

On Thursday, the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program began distributing gifts that were collected by local angels for kids in need.

After weeks of collection, parents picked up donations so they can be wrapped and placed under the tree for Christmas day.

The Salvation Army says every angel will be taken care of this year.

“So, we were 400 children and more. Every single one got adopted. We had a lot of forgotten angels that came in, which helped us fill those angels that didn’t come back. So, we can help supplement those things as well. We’ve seen an increase in those kinds of in-kind gifts this year, for sure,” said Area Commander for Salvation Army Jonathan Raymer.

And it’s not just toys.

There’s both a ‘needs’ and ‘wish’ portion of the application. So, in addition to the fun stuff, families are getting clothing, food boxes, car seats, diapers, beds and more.
