Suspect arrested in Augusta shooting death of 19-year-old
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A suspect has been arrested in relation to a deadly shooting near Dogwood Terrace back in April, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Dominique Beal, 28, of Augusta, was arrested on Friday, according to officials.
Police arrest 22-year-old suspect in Aiken murder case
The Aiken Department of Public Safety investigators have identified and obtained arrest warrants for 22-year-old for the 2024 shooting death of William Lee Mathis Jr.

Beal was arrested in connection with the homicide that occurred on the 2000 block of Bolt Drive on April 1.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office confirmed Makel F. Jones, 19, was shot at least one time and transported to Wellstar MCG hospital, where he died.
At the time. Denzel Shaw, 27, was also wanted for questioning only regarding the shooting.
Officials say Shaw had multiple outstanding warrants through the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service for unrelated incidents.

The shooting is part of an outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed more than 150 lives in the past year across the CSRA.
Fort Eisenhower murder suspect waives preliminary hearing
A defendant has waived his preliminary hearing in last weekend’s shooting death of a reservist in a family housing area at Fort Eisenhower.
