BLYTHE, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - There’s been a big shake-up for the police force in the small town of Blythe.

Leondus Dixon resigned this week as police chief, specifying his last day as the first day of the interim chief.

The town council on Thursday accepted the letter of resignation and told Dixon he’d be paid through his last day, Dec. 27, according to a draft of meeting minutes.

The council named Dwayne Flowers as interim police chief at a rate of $250 per week.

Officers Thomas Ray and LeRante Benjamin were asked to collect their equipment and they were released from duty, with wages in lieu of notice, according to the draft of minutes.

Blythe has about 770 residents, according to the Census Bureau.
