AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Incoming Augusta Commission member Don Clark took his oath of office Monday.

The newly elected commissoner’s term will begin with the new year.

Clark’s ceremony came after Augusta Commissioner Jordan Johnson was sworn in for a second term on Friday at the May Park Community Center.

We spoke with Johnson, who says he is looking forward to the next four years and continuing the work he has started with his district and the city.

Tackling homelessness is a priority for him and improving the Riverwalk and downtown area.

“I am not even from an attraction standpoint. What does Augusta do to our citizens? How do we our infrastructure? How do we the finesse of our community? That’s what I say when I reimagine Augusta. I am not only looking for Augusta’s leaders but the people who live here and who call Augusta home,” said Johnson.

Also on Friday, Eugene “Gino” Brantley took an oath of office during a ceremonial swearing-in as the new sheriff of Augusta-Richmond County.

On Monday, Commissioner-elect Don Clark will be sworn into office.

He will serve on Bobby William’s current district 5.
