James Brown Toy Giveaway helps bring Christmas to local kids
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The James Brown Toy Giveaway was held on Saturday morning.
More than 35 years of helping families continued at May Park.
Parents and guardians picked up toys for kids between the ages of 1 and 11.
We spoke to James Brown’s daughter about the giveaway.
Only 3 days left to donate to Red Kettle Campaign
The clocks ticking for you to donate to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. The campaign wraps up on Tuesday — just one day before Christmas.

She spoke about how the community donating all year helps give back to the community and the kids, especially after Hurricane Helene.
“We’re thankful that we’re able to do this because times are hard, people are still recovering from Hurricane Helene and will be for a very long time and children don’t understand the woes of life and the things that parents have to deal with And you know, they really should get to let kids be kids. So, we can provide them with toys and see a smile on their faces as well as their parents’ faces. My father never forgot where he came from. He ed being a young child with no toys,” said Deanna Brown-Thomas.
Brown-Thomas thanked the community for its for the giveaway.
