AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - 9AM UPDATE: The Tornado Watch that was to be in effect until 1PM Sunday has been CANCELLED for the CSRA with the exceptions of Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Jenkins, and Screven counties. The main line will be exited the News 12/26 viewing area by 10AM, so it is very likely the Tornado Watch will be cancelled shortly in these counties as well.

Steady rain with a few rumbles of thunder will continue through about midday, then we can expect cloudy, breezy and unseasonably warm conditions for the rest of your Sunday afternoon. Highs will reach the upper 60s to lower 70s with southerly winds 10 to 15 mph and gusts 20 to 25 mph.

Dry weather returns for the last few days of 2024 lasting through the last weekend of 2025.

FIRST ALERT this morning through 10 am for the chance of severe thunderstorms - mainly across our South Carolina counties. Latest alerts in effect are found here ALERTS.

FIRST ALERT SUNDAY - The Storm Prediction Center has issued a level 2 slight risk for scattered severe thunderstorms and possible isolated tornadoes that includes the entire CSRA. The main risk of storms will be between 6AM and 1PM Sunday with two possible rounds of storms - one early morning, the other as the cold es through late morning into the afternoon. The main risk from these storms is damaging wind gusts in excess of 58 mph, but isolated tornadoes are also possible. There is still uncertainty if all severe weather ingredients will be present at the same time to produce stronger storms, but we want you to be prepared for the worst case scenario just in case.

Stay weather-aware during the day. The front will clear all wet weather by Sunday night, and we are looking dry Monday all the way through New Year’s Day into the first weekend of 2025. Keep it here for the latest updates!
