MORE FROM NEWS 12:

“For the last couple of weeks he had been very fatigued and tired,” he said. “He didn’t have any episodes of that we had to treat. He died very peacefully and I’m glad that his family was at bedside when he did go.”

Raines said Jimmy’s age contributed to his cause of death.

“It was just mostly being 100 years old and finally he just reached the end and he was very peaceful going,” he said.

Jimmy requested to be put in hospice care in 2023. Despite spending almost two years on bedrest, Raines said it never changed the person everyone has come to love.

“Throughout his two years almost in hospice, he showed the same grit and determination that he did in his life up until that time,” he said. “It’s a sad day that he’s ed. It’d be really nice if there be a lot more people that would show the morality and the character and the determination that he’s shown during his lifetime of public service and then service to the community and the world.”
