Driver arrested over fatal crash in front of Fort Eisenhower

A man was killed in a crash Thursday morning in front of Gate 1 at Fort Eisenhower. The crash occurred on Gordon Highway at Jimmy Dyess Parkway.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A man has been arrested in relation to a deadly crash in front of Gate 1 at Fort Eisenhower in January.

Logan Hunter Chastain, 22, was arrested on Sunday, according to jail bookings.

The crash occurred on Jan. 2, on Gordon Highway at Jimmy Dyess Parkway.

David Houck, 22 years old from Fort Eisenhower was attempting to cross Gordon Highway when his vehicle was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

According to arrest warrants, Chastain “without malice aforethought, did cause the death of another human being.”

Houck was taken to Wellstar/MCG Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:54 a.m.

Chastain is charged with one misdemeanor count of homicide by vehicle and is being held in Richmond County jail.
