Suspect identified in S.C. bomb threat on interstate

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The South Carolina Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the driver of a tractor-trailer has been charged after a routine traffic stop led to a bomb threat on Thursday along I-85.
According to DPS officials, the SC State Transport Police initiated a traffic stop on the tractor-trailer at around 2:45 p.m. near mile marker 44 due to a missing license plate. During the stop, the driver indicated that there was an explosive device inside the commercial vehicle.
At that time, all six lanes on I-85 were shut down.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said SWAT and Bomb team were called to assist just after 3:30 p.m.
The incident caused a back-up near Exit 44 at White Horse Road in Greenville that lasted for more than four hours.
Officials said no explosive devices were found and all lanes re-opened at around 7:40 p.m.
Greenville County deputies said the situation was deemed safe and I-85 is back open to traffic. The tractor-trailer driver is in the custody of the SC State Transport Police.
Man charged in pregnant woman’s 2023 Barnwell County murder
A man has been arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder in a 2023 shooting death and the wounding of another, according to the Barnwell County Sheriff’s Office.

The SLED bomb squad and the FBI were also called to investigate.
On Friday, the driver was identified as Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi. He faces charges for conveying false info about a bomb threat, breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature and operating an uned vehicle.
Alhendi appeared before a judge where he was issued a total surety bond of $20,238 for all three charges.
The Greenville County Detention Center said Alhendi has been place on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer.
