5 charged in shooting that killed 18-year-old in Sparta
SPARTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Five people have been charged in connection to a shooting that left an 18-year-old dead in Sparta.
The Sparta Police Department says four adults and one juvenile have been charged with felony murder for the death of Javen Lamont Turner, of Sparta.
Turner died on Saturday after a shooting that occurred on Friday afternoon at the intersection of Broad Street and Miles Street, according to the police department.
Officers say the juvenile has been transported to the Youth Detention Center.
Coroner’s office responds suspicious scene on Jones Street
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says they have responded to a suspicious scene on Jones Street in Augusta.

The following adults have been charged in the case:
- Darrian Deandre Green, 18
- Nehemiah Henderson, 22, of Sparta
- Mikez Yaraus Edwards, 18, of Sparta
Armarion Hunt, 20, of Sparta, is also wanted and charged in connection to the case, according to the police department.
Officers say on Friday at 3:06 p.m., the Sparta Police Department requested the assistance of the GBI Region Six office in regard to an aggravated assault.
Upon investigation, officers found the Hancock County 911 center received a call regarding people in one vehicle shooting at another vehicle.
The enger of the vehicle was struck multiple times and transported to the hospital.
