AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A woman has been arrested after an elderly neglect case in Richmond County.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says Nicole Peak, 54, was in charge of taking care of a family member.

When deputies conducted a welfare check Dec. 30 at the home on Rollingwood Drive, investigators say there were roaches in the kitchen and the sink was overflowing with dishes.

They add there was a strong odor of bodily fluid coming from the family member’s room, and the Augusta Fire Department had to cut part of the mattress to remove them.

Peak has been arrested and charged with elderly neglect.
