WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon is clearing the path for the Justice Department to release the report on their investigation into Donald Trump’s actions on January 6. Cannon had placed a temporary block on that report last week.

With Federal Judge Aileen Cannon removing her block on the Trump January 6 report, the Justice Department could technically release it as soon as Tuesday.

In reality, it is likely Donald Trump’s attorneys will continue to oppose releasing the investigation to the public and could seek action from the U.S. Supreme Court.

Special Council Jack Smith submitted his investigation before reg from his position Friday. The report details the Justice Department’s findings in the criminal case against the president-elect. Donald Trump has faced four felony charges for his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Trump has consistently denied breaking any laws.

The case was eventually dropped, but already produced a ruling from the Supreme Court that the president of the United States does enjoy some criminal immunity for acts taken in their official capacity.

Cannon did maintain a temporary hold on a second criminal case against Trump – over his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House.
