‘A sweet soul’: Many mourn 29-year-old killed in armed robbery
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - On Monday, people in the south Augusta community were mourning the loss of Abdallah Rubeah, who was fatally shot in an armed robbery.
Rubeah, 29, was working at his smoke shop when police say three armed robbers came in and someone shot him.
Friends of Abdallah say he also went by the name of Jordan – and had the kindest heart.
“Nothing in that vape shop was worth Jordan’s life,” said Mia Posey, Rubeah’s friend.
Posey owns a shop right near the one Rubeah owns with his two brothers.
“When the police came to my door, I texted, I’m like, ‘Please like let me know you’re ok,’” said Posey. “I’m calling. I’ve called him before. So when he didn’t answer that day I was just like dang. I already knew what was going on.”
Man shot dead in Waynesboro, and his mom is a suspect
The Waynesboro Police Department and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the first homicide of 2025, we learned on Monday.

And now, Posey is left reflecting on their last words.
“I texted him get home safe and he texted me and was like you too. So to know that was one of the last things we said to each other was, you know, I made it home, but he wouldn’t be,” said Posey.
Now his death is sending shockwaves through south Augusta and leaving a community mourning.
“To know that it was a robbery that led to his death. I’m pretty sure if Jordan knew that you wanted something that bad, he would have just given it to you because that was his heart,” she said.
And worried about the future
“I haven’t even been at work since it happened,” said Posey. “Honestly, I’ve been to work properly, like once. But I’ve just kind of been taking it slow because it’s just scary right now. It’s just sensitive.”
But most importantly, hoping for justice.
Police arrest 2nd suspect in Aiken murder case
Aiken Department of Public Safety has arrested a second suspect in connection with the shooting death of the shooting death of William Lee Mathis Jr.

“Just a sweet soul was taken from everybody and he didn’t deserve it,” said Posey. “So I definitely hope that Jordan gets his justice. We can’t bring him back, but someone sweet, innocent, they lose their life so young, you know a brother, a friend.”
Authorities say three suspects then led them on a high-speed chase, crossing county lines from Richmond to Burke on Friday night.
One of those three suspects, Terrance Walker, 22, is now in custody.
Authorities say he was the driver in the chase.
The other two suspects are still on the loose tonight.
If you have any additional information, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office asks that you please them.
