Coroner rules elderly Batesburg-Leesville woman’s death an ‘accident’

BATESBURG, S.C. (WIS) - The Saluda County Coroner’s Office says they have ruled the death of a missing Batesburg-Leesville woman as an accident.

On Jan. 15, Edwinton K. Henderson, 82, was located near a dirt portion of a street in the city limits of Batesburg-Leesville.

The coroner’s office says Henderson had a medical event which was complicated by exposure to extremely cold environmental temperatures.

According to the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department, Henderson was last seen around 9 p.m. on Jan. 13 at 734 Humprey Street.

Henderson’s loved ones reported her missing around 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 14.

When announcing their search, police said Henderson was believed to suffer from dementia and other serious medical issues.
