“After deep reflection, conversation with my family and careful consideration, I have decided to step down from my service in the South Carolina House of Representatives,” Wheeler announced during the House’s morning session.
He spoke of his time in the State House of Representatives fondly, saying it has been an honor to serve in the legislature and serve his community.

“The path for a different opportunity to serve t
he community and the state that I love has become clear to me,” Wheeler continued. “That path wasn’t apparent last March when I filed for re-election. But, I’ve come to recognize this new path is the best way for me to continue serving the people of South Carolina while also prioritizing the wellbeing of my family, and me, and my ability to live. As difficult as it is to leave this chamber, I know this is the right decision.”
