Annual tri-college event kicks off MLK holiday weekend

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - On Friday, at the Maxwell Theater, the tri-college event honored Martin Luther King Jr. ahead of Monday’s federal holiday.

Guest speakers included Reverend Dr. Charles Goodman Jr., the senior pastor at the historic Tabernacle Baptist Church.

The colleges in attendance were Augusta University, Paine College and Augusta Technical College.

Community Foundation awards over $660,000 to 48 nonprofits in CSRA

The Community Foundation for the CSRA is awarding grants totaling more than $660,000 through the Community Grants Program to 48 nonprofits.

Multiple organizations performed on Friday, including Creative Impressions, the Eye Norman School of the Arts and the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.

On Thursday, community gathers for a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. service at the Augusta VA’s office.
