Federal indictment names Fort Eisenhower murder suspect

A suspect who was already arrested in connection with a December murder at Fort Eisenhower has now been indicted in federal court for the crime.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A suspect who was already arrested in connection with a December murder at Fort Eisenhower has now been indicted in federal court for the crime.

Natravien Reshawn Landry, 25, of Abbeville, La., is charged with premeditated murder and use of a firearm during a crime of violence for the Dec. 14 fatal shooting of a man he found in bed with the mother of his child in on-post family housing.

Sgt. Andre S. Stewart Jr. of Clarksville, Tenn., an Army reservist out of Fort Meade, Md. – died at a hospital about an hour after being shot in the chest in the early morning incident that put the post on lockdown and set off a statewide manhunt.

Landry was arrested three hours after the shooting on a highway south of Atlanta.

He waived his preliminary hearing in the days after the shooting.

His indictment is one of several that are newly returned in the Southern District of Georgia. Others include:

  • Fitz Kenney Williams, 33, of Augusta, who was charged with illegal receipt of a firearm by a person under indictment.
  • Ruben Alejandro Reyna-Mendoza, 47, of Ridgeland, S.C., charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Jarvis Jerrell Giles, 36, of Savannah, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Man wanted for questioning in Augusta sexual assault case

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man wanted for questioning about a sexual assault, we learned Friday.

Also in federal court, Ray Charles Canady III, 51, of Augusta, awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to interference with commerce by robbery, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. Richmond County investigators arrested Canady after he brandished a firearm at an Augusta convenience store in February 2024 and threatened an employee before running from the store with cash and lottery tickets.
