WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Donald Trump became the first Republican to win the popular vote in 20 years and the first president to serve non-consecutive in 100 years.

The incoming commander-in-chief made big promises on his way to retaking the White House.

“On day one I will launch the largest deportation program in American history, Trump said in an October rally. ”We’re going to get the criminals out.”

Trump also says he will revitalize the economy with a larger emphasis on fossil fuels and tax cuts.

“We’re going to have an economy the likes of which nobody’s ever seen before, and everybody’s coming back to America,” Trump said in December.

Republicans now control both chambers of Congress and the White House, paving the way for fast action. House Speaker Johnson (R-La.) , says the GOP moved too slow during Trump’s first term.

“We will not make those mistakes again,” Johnson said at a press conference in November. “We will be ready on day one. We are prepared this time.”

Trump’s plans include bringing government outsiders into the fold. He chose U.S. Army veteran and former Fox News Host Pete Hegseth to run the Pentagon.

“He believes, and I humbly agree, that it’s time to give someone with dust on his boots the helm,” Hegseth said at his nomination hearing. “A change agent.”

Trump also pledges change by enlisting the world’s richest man Elon Musk to shrink and streamline the federal government through the Department of Government Efficiency.

Trump says he will hit the ground running, and attempt to avoid the ban on TikTok voted into law in 2024.
