Off-duty Atlanta officer stabbed after hit-and-run, Rockdale deputies say
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A metro Atlanta police officer was hospitalized after being stabbed Saturday, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the stabbing happened after a hit-and-run on I-20 near Panola Road around 6 p.m. Justin Perry Hurst, 36, allegedly hit a Chevy Silverado driven by the off-duty officer.
The officer then followed Hurst into a parking lot on Wall Street in Conyers. The two got into a verbal altercation, according to deputies, at which point Hurst stabbed the officer and escaped.
The officer was hospitalized, but has since been released. Rockdale deputies did not say which police force the officer was from.
Hurst is considered armed and dangerous. He may be in a white VW at with Georgia license plate CWC3082.
