Augusta Transit buses start running again, officials say
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Augusta Transit has restarted operations after snow made operations impossible for a day and a half.

Augusta Transit bus services will operate until 8:30 p.m. as long as roads are safe and able
The bus service shut down at 3 p.m. Tuesday and remained closed Wednesday.
LIVE UPDATES: Winter weather blanketing the CSRA in snow
The CSRA is getting a day of winter weather, with snowfall totals expected to range from a dusting to 3 inches.

The shutdown meant the suspension of buses that shuttle homeless people to overnight shelters for free.
When the weather gets bitterly cold, Augusta Transit traditionally provides free rides from certain pickup points to overnight shelters.
However, Oliver Page, deputy director of Augusta Transit, said people needing shelter were given transportation by other local agencies during the suspension.
Starting Thursday, Augusta Transit will resume those shuttles.
The shelters include:
- Augusta Rescue Mission, 526 Walker St.
- Garden City Rescue Mission, 828 Fenwick St.
- Salvation Army Center of Hope, 1384 Greene St.
