AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Officials reopened Augusta Regional Airport on Thursday after two days of limited operations due to winter weather that dumped snow across the CSRA.

The airport officially reopened at 4 a.m., but the arrival and departure board did show some delays and cancellations through at least 10:30 a.m.

Both of the airlines that serve Augusta – Delta and American – are still working their way through days of delays at their hubs in Atlanta and Charlotte that most Augusta fliers through. The hubs were affected by the same storm that caused problems here.

Augusta Regional Airport officials urged the flying public to check with their airline directly for the most up-to-date information.

The airport shut down Tuesday as the snow fell and commercial flights were canceled and then reopened for a time Wednesday before closing earlier than normal.

The airport closed Tuesday night due to runway conditions after Tuesday’s snowfall, a move that followed the cancellation of all commercial flights.

Officials had planned to reopen the airport at 10 a.m. Wednesday, but extended that to noon and later announced the airport would be closing again at 6:30.

At Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport – where many Augusta fliers change planes or directly depart from – there were at least 428 cancellations and 669 delays Wednesday. And a ground stop on Tuesday led to 334 cancellations and 788 delays.
