Most city of Augusta services to open late 2 days after snowfall
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - With a continuing danger of black ice on roads after Tuesday’s snowstorm, Augusta city offices will open late Thursday.
Most offices will open at noon Thursday after being closed Wednesday.
“The safety of our employees and residents remains our top priority, and this measure has been implemented to ensure the well-being of all,” the city said in a statement.
In addition, the Augusta Commission will hold its scheduled meeting at 12:30 p.m. in the Lee Beard Commission Chamber at the Augusta-Richmond County Municipal Building, 535 Telfair St.

The CSRA is getting winter weather, with snowfall totals expected to range from a dusting to 3 inches.

Here are some details from the city:
- Augusta Animal Services: Open from 2-5 p.m. for owner reclaims and stray intakes. No adoptions will take place.
- Augusta Transit: Augusta Transit bus services will operate from noon to 8:30 p.m. as long as roads are safe and able.
- Augusta Landfill: The Augusta Landfill will open from noon to 6 p.m.
- Trash collection: Service will be delayed. Additional information for service resumption will be provided when it becomes available.
