ATLANTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Georgia woman has a love story that has lasted almost 60 years.

Hazel Bailey said she married the love of her life and has spent every day for the past few years, showing up in a new way.

“This is a photo of us the day we got married in 1966, and I have to say, it was the best day of my life,” Bailey said of her husband, Bobby. “This is a picture one Sunday morning. We were ready for church. These pictures are priceless to me.”

A more than 50-year-old love story, plus a few added years — five and three months to be exact.

“I know God put us together,” said Bailey.

Bobby was in the U.S. Navy.

“One, four, three, that means I love you. When he was in the Navy,” said Bailey.

Every day — rain, snow or shine and if she can get out of her driveway — you will find Hazel right by her husband’s side.

“He was the most wonderful man I have ever met in my life. He was a good Christian man. He loved God,” she said.

They spent their marriage side by side and when he ed, it felt natural to Hazel to stay right there. It has been years now.

Volunteers from the mayor’s office, Project Refresh and more all ing together.

“To me, it gives me peace within my heart,” said Bailey.

They have a lifetime of memories — of children and of love.

“This is when he took me off to Northfork, Virginia after we got married. I had never been away from home that far,” she said.

Some love stories do not always last forever, and some are not in happy marriages.

Some of us would not call the person we are with the love of our life. Hazel has all of those things. She knows she is the lucky one.

“I might be crazy but I am crazy in love with him though,” she said.
