EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - An Evans High School football coach is off the job over an alleged inappropriate relationship with an ex-student, according to the Columbia County School District.

On Thursday, school officials told families Barrett Davis, a teacher and coach at Evans High was no longer employed by the district.

“Please know that in any situation concerning allegations of inappropriate behavior by a staff member, not only will we investigate fully, we will also use every resource available to pursue prosecution in order to keep inappropriate behavior out of classrooms and schools,” the letter sent to families stated.

s told parents on Monday they’d been notified of a report alleging an “inappropriate relationship” between an employee and a former student.

Immigration agents conducting ‘targeted operations’ in Georgia

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson said arrests in Georgia have been made as part of “enhanced targeted operations.”

“We take all reports extremely seriously and will investigate fully so we can continue to provide a safe, positive environments for students and staff,” a letter sent to families stated.

Suspicious behavior should be immediately reported to a school or by ing the Columbia County School District anonymous Tip Hotline at 706-541-3600, parents were told.

This isn’t the first time Evans High School has had a problem like this.

News broke in October that Montel Watters, a community coach at the school, had been arrested and charged with improper sexual conduct by a teacher.

Watters told officials on body camera footage that he received oral sex from a student while in front of her house after giving her a ride home after a game., according to a police report.

And in 2022, former Evans High School teacher Scott Hooker was arrested on a charge of sexual by a teacher over an incident that happened on Valentine’s Day in 2017.
