I-TEAM: Investigation continues into 8-month-old’s death in Jefferson County
LOUISVILLE, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We’re learning new details related to the GBI’s investigation into the death of 8-month-old Caleb Taylor earlier this month in Jefferson County.
We found the mother connected to this case also lost a child back in 2021 — 7-month-old Micah Taylor.
That happened in Dekalb County.
An autopsy report says the mother and Micah were both in a group home under the Department of Family & Children Services' watch in Dekalb County.
The autopsy report says the day Micah died, the mother came back to the group home with Micah after being missing the day before.

President Donald Trump signed the first bill of his new istration – the Laken Riley Act, named for an AU nursing student who was slain on the University of Georgia campus.

Micah was fed and bathed, and handed off to someone at the group home. That’s when they noticed Micah was acting strange and becoming unresponsive.
Micah’s cause of death was listed as undetermined.
The autopsy report also details that a baby bottle containing acetone was found at the scene.
Micah’s blood did not contain acetone, and the report says the significance of that finding in the bottle is uncertain.
The GBI told us they’re aware of Micah’s death, but not currently investigating it.
