New details revealed after shooting death of 30-year-old in Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We have learned more about the shooting death of a 30-year-old man in Augusta over the weekend, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
The affidavit states Ja Vyion Dae Quan Johnson,19, drove two unidentified individuals to the home in the 1900 block of Higdon Street.
The unidentified individuals entered the home and shot the victim, then exited the house with a white trash bag, according to the affidavit.
Murder suspect charged after chase by cops ends in crash
Suspect has been booked and charged after a pursuit with deputies that ended in a crash at the intersection of Bobby Jones Expressway, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

All three then fled in a 2013 Hyundai Elantra with a Georgia tag, the arrest warrant states.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says Davonta Lamar McCloud, of Hidgon Street, was identified as the victim in the shooting.
Johnson was arrested on Tuesday for the murder of McCloud and an aggravated assault on another man.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to Higdon Street at 2:58 a.m. Saturday.
Deputies say they found McCloud and another male victim shot at least once inside a residence.
Suspect arrested in 2023 murder of mom on East Taylor Street
A suspect who was wanted in connected to the 2023 killing of a mom on East Taylor Street has been arrested, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

McCloud was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:07 a.m.
According to deputies, the second victim was taken to the hospital with an injury that’s not life-threatening and later released.
Johnson is being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center, according to officials.
Deputies say the investigation is ongoing.

The year is off to a deadly start for the CSRA, now with five murders or suspicious deaths in Augusta, two homicides in Aiken, one in Waynesboro, one in Sparta and one in Monetta.
The slayings are among the latest in a more than two-year outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed about 200 lives across the CSRA.
