At least 4 die in separate CSRA crashes within 18 hours
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two drivers were killed in separate crashes Friday in Augusta – and both followed a fatal crash on Georgia Highway 24 South in Burke County, then a driver died several hours later in Aiken County, making four fatal crashes in the CSRA in about 18 hours.
Aiken County: On Rushton Road
An Aiken man was killed after a single-vehicle accident on Rushton Road, according to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.
Officials say the accident occurred near Mosley Road just before 2 a.m. Saturday.
John Boulware, 22, was driving east in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado truck when the truck went off the right side of the road and hit a tree, according to the Coronor’s Office.
Officials say Boulware was the only person in the truck and was pronounced dead on the scene just before 3 a.m.
A toxicology analysis is pending.
The Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
Richmond County: On Henderson Road
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office responded to the 5100 block of Henderson Road in reference to a single-motor vehicle crash.
The vehicle was traveling east on Henderson and left the roadway, crashing into a tree.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:20 p.m.
He was identified as Josiah Cadle, 68, of Hephzibah, according to Coroner Mark Bowen.
Richmond County: On Peach Orchard Road
A driver was killed after losing control of his vehicle on Peach Orchard Road on Friday morning, according to authorities.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division was on the scene of a single-vehicle accident that occurred at a parking lot in the 3100 block of Peach Orchard Road.
The driver lost control of his vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which caused it to roll over, deputies told us.
According to Coroner Mark Bowen, the driver was taken to Wellstar/MCG by EMS where he was pronounced dead at 10:13 a.m.
Burke County: On Highway 24 South
The Burke County Coroner’s Office responded to a three-vehicle accident Friday on Georgia Highway 24 South, according to authorities.
Linda Rochelle Walton Dixon, of Sylvania, died after her vehicle collided head-on with another one.
Deputies say they responded to the scene of a crash involving a log truck, a pickup truck and another vehicle on the highway at Thompson Bridge Road at 8:11 a.m.
Georgia State Patrol troopers and the Georgia Motor Carrier Compliance Division were also called to the crash.
