Woman charged with cruelty to children after juvenile hospitalized
EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A woman has been arrested and charged with cruelty to children after allegedly withholding medication from a child, according to arrested warrants obtained from the Columbia County Magistrate Court.
Vera Jones, 46, was arrested on Thursday, according to jail bookings.
According to arrest warrants, on Jan. 25, Jones neglected care and withheld medications from a child which caused the child to have seizures and be itted to the hospital.
Arrest warrants state, “The juvenile was itted with a low body weight, was reported to have infections between her toes, which had an odor, and pressure sores on her body.”

A driver was killed after losing control of his vehicle on Peach Orchard Road on Friday morning, according to authorities.

The incident occurred don’t he 200 block of Lariat Circle, according to arrest warrants.
Jones is charged with one count of cruelty to children and deprivation of necessary sustenance, according to jail bookings.
Bookings show Vera’s bond was set at $25,100.
