2 victims identified in separate Augusta fatal crashes

Two drivers were killed in separate crashes Friday in Augusta – and both followed a fatal crash in Burke County. Later, a driver died in Aiken County.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified two men who died in separate Augusta traffic accidents Friday.

Josiah Cadle, 68, of Hephzibah, was killed in a crash Friday afternoon in the 5100 block of Henderson Road, according to Coroner Mark Bowen.

Cadle’s vehicle was traveling east on Henderson and left the roadway, crashing into a tree.

Cadle was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:20 p.m.

Also Friday, a driver died Friday morning when his vehicle rolled over after he lost control of it.

Wayne Roberts, 74, of Hephzibah was pronounced dead at 10:13 a.m. WellStar/MCG hospital after the accident in a parking lot in the 3100 block of Peach Orchard Road.

Roberts lost control of his vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which caused it to roll over, deputies told us.

The crashes were among four that claimed four lives within 18 hours in the CSRA on Friday and Saturday. The other ones were:

  • An Aiken man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Rushton Road near Mosley Road in Aiken County just before 2 a.m. Saturday. John Boulware, 22, was driving east in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado truck when the truck went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.
  • Linda Rochelle Walton Dixon, of Sylvania, died after her vehicle collided head-on with another one Friday morning on Georgia Highway 24 near mile marker 14 in Burke County. Three vehicles were involved in the crash.
