NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - On Monday, the North Augusta City Council unanimously approved a grant application for the Palmetto Trailway project.

The project will include an asphalt parking lot, ADA accessibility, and a privacy shelter and kiosk.

There is still time for you to submit your on the project to the Parks and Recreation Department. Applications are due this Friday.

Aiken Tech cut the ribbon on the new advanced manufacturing mobile lab.

The city council says the second for Helene cleanup will be completed north of I-20 by Friday and the second completed for Savannah Barony and River North neighborhoods. More than 11 miles are cleared out of the city’s 24-mile radius.

Also, tonight two officers and a firefighter in North Augusta were recognized with a Lifesaver award.

Corp Medgar Patten, PSO Hoots and firefighter Dandy were at the station when someone knocked on the door to tell them about a city employee lying on the ground. The three did R on the person who went to the hospital and survived.

Sgt. David Bunts was also recognized tonight for 27 years of service with North Augusta Public Safety.
