NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - We told you last April about plans approved to add apartments, retail and more to Riverside Village by SRP Park.

With the growth has come road closures and parking concerns and it’s all in anticipation of expanding Riverside Village.

“We have 315 units here going to be market-rate apartments,” says Aaron Watson, project manager for Fansler Construction. “Each apartment has its own parcel of land. You have 58 units, 107 units and 85 units. There’s not enough land to have them all on one parcel, so they’re spaced out between the three addresses.”

The new apartments are equipped with indoor and outdoor amenities.

“We have two clubhouses between the three buildings,” says Watson. “The clubhouse will have amenity space like offices, so if you work from home, they have offices in there. They’ll have like coffee machines and conference room space. Outdoor seating, a fire pit. Building K will have a pool that all three buildings can use.”

An effort is underway to convince Georgia’s Environmental Protection Division that changes to a chemical plant’s permit will worsen Augusta's air.

Some North Augusta neighbors are worried about space and whether there’s enough.

“These lots are right up to the curb,” Watson says. “Basically 0 lot lines.”

Fansler Construction is in charge of the project, and they say they have a plan.

“They do parking studies before they’re allowed to start a project like this to make sure there’s adequate parking,” Watson says. “North Augusta will not let you start a project until they have the parking worked out. Each parcel does have a little bit of parking attached to it, but the main parking will be in the two garages. The owners of the complex have a bill worked out with the city of North Augusta to use both parking garages.”

Fansler Construction says the project is on track.

“We started about the first of September and currently we’re framing two of the buildings and about to pour the foundation of the third,” says Watson.

They say that different phases of the project are expected to be completed at different times, but the entire project is expected to be done early next year.
