AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 25-year-old man had died after a shooting near the Springside Apartments in Aiken.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office says Tevin Jackson was located inside a vehicle on the 6000 block of Springside Lane with multiple gunshot wounds.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened around 7:24 p.m. Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office says when a USC Aiken Police and deputies arrived, they found an unresponsive Black male in a vehicle.

According to the coroner’s office, Jackson was pronounced dead at 8:09 p.m.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Jackson, the coroner says.

The year is off to a deadly start for the CSRA, now with six murders or suspicious deaths in Augusta, three homicides in Aiken, one in Waynesboro, one in Sparta and one in Monetta.

The slayings are among the latest in a more than two-year outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed about 200 lives across the CSRA.
