AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A man has been arrested after allegedly striking another man in the head with a rock, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Marty Williams, 31, of Augusta, was arrested on Wednesday, according to officials.

Deputies say on Wednesday around 2:48 p.m., they responded to the 2000 block of Nanmart Court in reference to an assault.

On scene, deputies say they located an adult male victim who had been struck in the head with a landscaping rock.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says a 19-year-old man died after a shooting on Wednesday in Augusta.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

Officers say Williams was arrested at the scene and booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

Williams is charged with aggravated assault as well as felony failure to appear warrant.
