SLED charges Aiken County suspect with child sex crimes
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged a 34-year-old suspect with criminal sexual conduct with a minor on Monday.
Authorities say Terry Alen Haggerty, was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree, and criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the third degree on Jan. 13.
According to the arrest warrants, Haggerty between July 2024 and January 2025, did engage in sexual battery with a juvenile under the age of 16-years-old in Aiken.
Authorities said the victim disclosed the crime to a mandated reporter during an educational function at her school and in a SLED forensic interview.
The victim also told authorities that Haggerty did willfully and lewdly commit or attempt to commit a lewd or lascivious act upon the minor.
The SLED investigation was requested by the Aiken Department of Public Safety, according to authorities.
The case will be prosecuted by the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
