Former McCormick officer charged with misconduct in office
MCCORMICK, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A former McCormick Police Department officer has been charged with misconduct in office, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
On Feb. 7, Matthew Dillon Yonn, 28, was charged with misconduct in office.

Arrest warrants state between April 1, 2024, and May 9, 2024, near Kelly Street, Yann, “did engage in sexual acts with a woman in the vicinity of his Town of McCormick Police Department patrol vehicle at the Piedmont Technical College-McCormick Campus.”
These sexual acts happened while Yann was on duty and in uniform, in violation of the Common Law of South Carolina, according to arrest warrants.

There’s a new wave of criminal activity targeting children and investigators say South Carolina’s laws are leaving them exposed.

Witness statements, surveillance video, dash cam video from Yonn’s Town of McCormick patrol vehicle and his own issions to SLED corroborate Yann’s misconduct in office, according to the agency.
SLED says the investigation was conducted at the request of the McCormick County Sheriff’s Office.
S.C. training program hopes to keep inmates on straight path
The South Carolina Department of Corrections has the lowest recidivism rate in the country, but they want to make it even lower by teaching inmates job skills they can use immediately after incarceration.

Yonn was booked into the McCormick County Detention Center, according to the agency.
Officials say the case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
