Local businesses see increase in sales ahead of Valentine’s Day
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Ahead of Valentine’s Day, we checked in with our local shops to see if they were experiencing a rush of shoppers despite the weather.
Egg prices, which can impact the costs of cakes, and chocolate prices are both rising. But what about flowers?
We spoke to Martina’s Flowers and Gifts about what they have seen.
United Way of CSRA hosts resource fair in honor of 211 Day
The United Way of the CSRA is hosting a resource fair in honor of National 211 Day on Tuesday.

“This is our busiest holiday of the year. This week I’m not sure exactly how many customers we serve, but I expect we will make around 700 deliveries I would think. But that’s just my guess, I’m not really sure. We’ll see how it all washes out after the holiday,” said Angela Kennedy, a sales associate at Martina’s.
She also said they have delivery options and extended in-person hours.
They also carry imported chocolates from Ireland as well.
Along with an increase in flower sells, Agape Chocolates is seeing a busy season as well.
The one-man show is handcrafted by James Stefanakos with packaging influenced by his family is based out of Grantiteville.

After nearly a decade in the craft, Stefankos spoke about the Valentine’s Day rush and what to know if you plan to visit him.
“It picks up around Christmas and Valentine’s Day. So, this last week I was at my shop till about 11 last night making chocolate bars and chocolate covered strawberries,” said Stefanakos. “So, we have a number of retailers around the CSR that sell our bars. You can always come to my shop here in Graniteville, but I do recommend calling ahead of time. I am a one-man operation and sometimes I’m out making deliveries to my retailers.”

A percentage of the proceeds are donated back to the community.
