Accused of lying, another Richmond County deputy fired
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Richmond County deputy was fired Tuesday and charged with giving false statements in a government matter and violation of oath of office.
The charges against Addison Leroy Brown stem from an incident that occurred Saturday.
A review of body-worn camera footage during an internal investigation revealed inconsistencies that led to this decision, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
1 suspect still sought after 2 arrests in Augusta’s latest murder
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a third suspect in connection to the weekend murder of a 32-year-old on Cooney Circle.

Sheriff Eugene Brantley has made it clear that he fully s deputies who perform their duties ethically and honestly, according to a news release.
However, there is no place in the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for those who violate their oath of office, according to Brantley, who’s been sheriff since Jan. 1.
“We remain committed to transparency and ability,” Brantley said. “We will continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity as we work to earn and maintain the public’s trust. Together, we are going to make Augusta better — one day at a time.”
