A local doctor says it seems like more people than ever are getting sick. It’s affecting both young and old, and even those with up-to-date vaccines.

There are some ways people can start to prepare now before it gets worse, Barry says.

“One thing is taking some daily antihistamines something over the counter like a Zyrtec or Claritin, that definitely will help with their allergy symptoms,” said Berry. “Over the counter nasal steroids as well as like Flonase, Nasacort, things like that will help. But if you’re going to be outside. A long period of time, it’s helpful to wear a mask, honestly. And keep your windows closed. Don’t let that pollen in your house as much as possible.”

Berry says the people most at risk are allergy patients and asthma patients, as the allergy symptoms can cause asthma symptoms to worsen.
